Here's My Very Ordinary Story
(Not that you're asking, but hey, let's go with it.)
I've loved to write as long as I can remember. As a kid I scribbled stories just for fun... and to make my mom laugh. Now, I write for you.

Growing up, I wasn't known as the popular kid, not cool, nor athletic. This was a fact well noted as often I was the last one standing there, when the teams were chosen. Don't get me wrong, I had my handful of friends, sure, but I just didn't seem to possess that illusive quality of charisma that some so effortlessly carried. With my bone-skinny legs and sickly pale complexion, I often felt like odd man out. Though humor was a treasured gift I'd been given, the sense of belonging was not. Sometimes, even still, I can find myself struggling with those familiar insecurities. I've learned to instead turn my focus to the blessings I've been given in this crazy life.

For starters, I've got a pretty amazing husband. My man and I have been holding strong, married for over thirty years now, and believe it or not, I still think he's the hunkiest. (Is that a word?) Together we've raised four incredible humans. No matter how old they get, I'll always be mama to those I birthed and also to the precious few who married into this family circus. They've given me the cutest grandkids on this planet who make my heart skip every time they say, "Nana."
I'm the person who can effortlessly recall in more detail than the listener prefers, crazy stories from years past, but also the person who constantly forgets where I put my cellphone not more than five minutes ago. I say the wrong thing at the wrong time more often that I want to confess right now and can't help but shake my head at the irony of being a writer. Because emotions are my forever nemesis, I wrestle with them often and sometimes my words spill out in the tumble. I'm thankful for the grace that remains in the hearts of those close to me, for I tend to tap it out of them daily.
Okay, whew! That's more than enough about me, don't you think?
Now lets talk about you. You are the why behind my writing. In fact, you are the whole reason why this site exists. It's my hope that as you scan across the page of something I've penned, you and I will connect somehow and you'll know that someone else out there "gets it." My prayer is that you'll find a tiny gem tucked here, among the scattered words - something that speaks directly and personally to you. Something that changes how you saw it before. Something that helps heal that place in your heart.
As you leave and go about your day, may your load be a little lighter than when you arrived. May you take with you even the tiniest strand of encouragement.
Welcome to my site. I'm so glad you're here.
:)
